Ten years since his disappearance, the Barga Council is promoting a large anthological exhibition dedicated to John Bellany (1942-2013), one of the most important Scottish artists of the 20th century, whose painting, characterized by a spiritual dimension that surpasses truth, is a tool for a deep understanding of humanity.

For the first time in Italy, their entire artistic journey is being reconstructed, from the years of training to the last picturesque production dedicated to Barga and the Serchio Valley, thanks to selected works from the family’s private collection.

Titled “John Bellany. Time will tell. Time will reveal us”, the exhibition curated by Helen and Angela Bellany is held in two locations: from 1 to 22 July 2023 paintings made from 2000, the year of his arrival in Barga, from 2 to 30 July will be exhibited at the Ricci di Barga Foundation 2023 it will be presented at the Lucca Exposition Palace, headquarters of the Foundation Banca del Monte di Lucca.
