Angela Gheorghiu, recital for voice and piano

ANGELA GHEORGHIU , the most glamorous opera singer of our time (New York Sun), has a magnificent voice and a splendid stage presence, elements that have made her a one-of-a-kind international opera superstar.

In Lucca, for the Puccini Days, Mrs. Gheorghiu, accompanied on the piano by Alexandru Petrovici , will perform a selection of chamber arias and opera extracts by Giacomo Puccini and Alfredo Catalani, among which the world premiere of Melanconia stands out!… , unpublished opera by Giacomo Puccini . 

The autograph manuscript of this lyric for voice and piano was in the Archive of Villa Puccini in Torre del Lago, where it was identified by the Giacomo Puccini Study Center after the recent opening to scholars of this fundamental source of information for biography and creativity pucciniana, largely still unexplored. 

The first edition of the piece is imminent in the volume of the National Edition of Giacomo Puccini’s Works entitled Liriche per canto e piano , edited by Riccardo Pecci, who provided the preview score for the world premiere performance by Angela Gheorghiu.
