Brancoli Living History 2023 Annual Event

The Brancoli Living History 2023 annual event will take place on Sunday 28th May with the patronage of the Municipality of Lucca. Event that since last year we have named “Brancoli Living History” and identified with a special logo to indicate the experience of knowing and living the history of these places.
On this day you can go on a guided tour of the fortifications of World War II and witness many historical reenactments. The departures of the groups for guided tours on Mount Pittone are scheduled at these times: 9:00 – 9:30 – 10:00 – 10:30 with a meeting at the Church of San Giusto in Brancoli.
Reservation is required for participation at the chosen time, using the contacts indicated below or in the flyer.
During the walk along the “Pittone Mount” information will be provided on the history spent in these places and on the bunkers, pitches and trenches that are still preserved along a path of high historical and landscape value. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to witness various scenes of daily life in time thanks to the participation of historical recallers who will give information about the various realities represented.
During the excursion you will meet people in civilian clothes explaining the difficulties of the local people, soldiers of the Axis army stationed in various fortifications such as at the time and partisan troops; in a specific area it will be possible to visit a camp with various departments of the Allied army, even with historical means from the time.
At the end of the course the Committee organizes a lunch with typical local products on the square of the Church of San Giusto di Brancoli with a beautiful view on the floor below.
After lunch “revocative displays” will be organized where time situations will be staged accompanied by explanations with historical references.
Finally, there will also be an opportunity to visit the renovated Museum of the Memory of Brancoli with its rooms divided for thematic areas.
