A tribute also to the great Ukrainian soprano Solomija Krusceniski, a citizen of Viareggio, on the 150th anniversary of her birth, which is also celebrated by UNESCO.
OFF-PROGRAMME, ON 23 AUGUST IN THE GRAND OPEN-AIR THEATRE IN TORRE DEL LAGO LA BOHEME, STAGED BY 140 TECHNICIANS AND ARTISTS WELCOMED DIRECTLY FROM UKRAINE
with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Directorate for Cultural Diplomacy.
An initiative with a high symbolic value, a contribution to the revival of a theatre, the famous Lviv Opera and Ballet Theatre, one of the city’s greatest historical and cultural monuments, which due to the war has had to interrupt its activities and send many of its artists to the front.
The evening, which also sees the participation of the Italian Embassy in Kiev and the Italian Cultural Institute, will be streamed and shared with the world. The event was also made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.
La Bohème is one of the opera titles at the top of the list of the most performed operas in the world, the masterpiece in which Mimi is the heart-breaking victim of fate, that makes her live poor, lonely and sick, unhappily in love to tragically die of phthisis. At the Puccini Festival, La Bohème is always among the most popular titles, and will be staged on Tuesday 23 August (9.15 pm) with a production by the Lviv Theatre.
