Leonardo – The lost masterpiece, a film directed by Andreas Koefoed, is a documentary focused on one of the most expensive works in the world, the Salvator Mundi, sold for 450 million dollars and attributed to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci. After its discovery, the work was studied for a long time and only after careful analysis was it decided to proceed with the restoration of the painting. In 2017 the artwork was bought by Christie’s auction house, which sold it to the aforementioned exorbitant amount to the UAE Department of Culture and Tourism. The price of this masterpiece has grown over time and it is for this reason that the Salvator mundi is one of the most replicated works in the history of art.
