The largest widespread museum in Italy reopens its doors.
Sunday 22 May, in fact, the National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association returns, this year in its twelfth edition.

Over 400 exclusive places such as castles, fortresses, villas, parks and gardens can be visited for free, in an immersion in history that still today makes our country identifiable in the world and which could be the pivot of sustainable development long-term. Also this year the Tuscany region holds the record of openings: as many as 120 private homes distributed in all the provinces.

The largest widespread museum in Italy reopens its doors. In fact, next Sunday 22 May, the National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association returns, this year in its twelfth edition.

Over 400 exclusive places such as castles, fortresses, villas, parks and gardens can be visited for free, in an immersion in history that still today makes our country identifiable in the world and which could be the pivot of sustainable development long-term. Also this year the Tuscany region holds the record of openings: as many as 120 private homes distributed in all the provinces.

The initiative, in collaboration with the National Association of Memory Houses and Federmatrimoni e Eventi Privati ​​(Federmep), received the patronage of the Italian National Commission for Unesco, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and ENIT – Agenzia National Tourist Board. From this year the TGR will be the Media Partner of the event.
That of historic buildings is a unique network, with an immense social, cultural and economic value that the owners undertake every day to preserve and enhance. The historic houses, in fact, not only constitute an immense cultural heritage but are also the pivot of a circular economy for the reference area.
The ADSI National Day is an opportunity to raise awareness among civil society and institutions on the role that historic homes play in the socio-economic fabric of the country. Their induction generates a positive impact on many supply chains: from crafts to tourism, to agricultural and wine production. There are many professionals who gravitate around a dwelling, skilled trades – artisans, restorers, glass masters – increasingly difficult to find.

A heritage handed down to us through the centuries, also thanks to the restoration and maintenance of historic houses, which burden solely on the owners. It is also from the modernization and renovation works that the quality of the places in which the residences exist, contributing to their decorum and their growth of attractiveness, restoring vitality to territories – especially the more peripheral ones – which see the dwelling as the main local economic center . Investing in these magnificent treasures – unique and unrepeatable – means creating employment opportunities for the youngest, who are in turn able to pass on the knowledge that has made Italian private wealth great.

Numerous initiatives promoted by the owners for the National Day: from exhibitions to concerts and theatrical performances, to intercept the needs of the public of all ages. The photo contest in collaboration with Photolux aimed at Instagram users is also back: more information will be detailed in subsequent communications.

National Association of Historic Houses
The Italian Historic Houses Association, a recognized non-profit organization, is the association that brings together the owners of historic homes throughout Italy. Founded in 1977, the Association currently has around 4500 members and represents a significant component of the historical and artistic heritage of our country. The Association promotes awareness-raising activities to promote the conservation, enhancement and management of historic homes, so that these properties, of historical-artistic value and of interest to the community, can be protected and handed down to future generations in the best conditions. This commitment is aimed in three directions: towards the shareholders themselves, owners of the assets; towards the central and territorial institutions, competent on the various aspects of conservation;
