Piano Concert

March 30, 2022 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Free

Is it possible to grasp the essence of Mozart, or Beethoven, or even Chopin, in less than two minutes? ShortCuts, the work that the pianist and conductor Antonio Ballista will perform in the national premiere in Lucca on Wednesday 30 March for the Festival della Sintesi starts from this question. The appointment, with free admission and free subject to availability, is for 9 pm in the Sala Ademollo at Palazzo Ducale (for those who want, it is possible to book by writing to info@dilloinsintesi.it).

ShortCuts is a close dialogue with fifty classical and contemporary authors, from the French eighteenth century by Jean-Philippe Rameau to today by Bruno Canino, with whom Ballista has shared a life of studio and stage. From the repertoire of each, the pianist will propose a very short piece, lasting a few minutes or even a few seconds.

A rare program, which goes beyond the concert tradition, to demonstrate that, even with a few bars, it is possible to fully express the poetics that make the proposed composers recognizable. But also an unprecedented challenge for the performer, who will blow out 86 candles on the day of the concert in Lucca.
To help the listener orient themselves in this frenzied parade, Ballista accompanies each title with a bold synthesis of just nine words.
