The path
IN CONTINUOUS EVOLUTION FOLLOWING THE CYCLE OF SEASONS AND BLOOMS

The Via delle Erbe e dei Fiori is a path that can be used free of charge and independently in every season to live unique experiences in contact with nature in the green heart of Versilia as protagonists.
Walking or cycling the dirt roads around the center of Massarosa it will be possible to visit the best agricultural and horticultural companies in the area, enjoying their spectacular crops and tasting the local products of their own production, with the possibility of buying them.
The route will develop between plantations of lavender, eucalyptus and medicinal plants, as well as olive groves, vineyards, peach orchards and land cultivated with hops, sunflowers, saffron and hemp up to the largest cultivation of lotus flowers in Italy.

Along the way it is possible to admire some of the main points of historical, cultural and landscape interest in all of Massarosa.

The project La Via delle Erbe e dei Fiori

The Via delle Erbe e dei Fiori is a cycle / pedestrian path that winds through the streets of the countryside of Massarosa born with the aim of promoting and enhancing the agricultural, food and wine, landscape, historical, artistic and cultural excellence of the territory, the green heart of Versilia .
A project that was born from the bottom up from the initiative of the members of the Versilia Verdelago Association made possible thanks to the synergy between producers, artisans, restaurateurs, commercial and tourist activities in the area.

Objective of the project
The La Via delle Erbe e dei Fiori project is a real territorial marketing project based on the construction of a network of tourist experiences, sensory and food and wine itineraries that can be used all year round in the Massarosese area.
The goal is the construction and promotion of the image of Massarosa, the green heart of Versilia.
The routes, starting from the 2021 edition, will progressively involve year after year, the whole municipal area: starting from the excellences of the historic center and surroundings, in 2022 the neighboring hamlets will be involved to arrive in 2023 to involve the whole municipality.

The key points of the project are:

• Promotion of the uniqueness and the enogastronomic, landscape, historical and cultural value of the territory of Massarosa and of the areas surrounding Lake Massaciuccoli.
• Enhancement of slow-moving tourist routes.
• Enhancement of Massarosa’s food and wine excellences and related production chains (horticulture, viticulture, medicinal plants, olive oil, fruit and vegetables, sheep farming, beekeeping, cereal cultivation).
• Repopulation of the inhabited center.
• Recovery of uncultivated land.

The La Via delle Erbe e dei Fiori project is financed by the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, Sapori di Campagna srl ​​and the Lucca Chamber of Commerce / Vetrina Toscana, with the patronage and collaboration of Coldiretti Lucca, Confcommercio Lucca and the Municipality of Massarosa and the support of Slow Food Versilia and other local associations.
