The Uffizi Diffusi Project: Raffaello La Madonna del Baldacchino

Through June 30, 2023
The Uffizi Diffusi project, conceived by Eike Schmidt, director of the Uffizi Galleries, promotes the circulation of works conserved in the Florentine museum in other places in the territory of the Tuscany Region.
The Pescia exhibition fits into this context and, through the display of the majestic altarpiece painted by Raphael, depicting the Madonna del Baldacchino, intends to bring to the attention of visitors the reconstruction of the historical fabric and of the artistic events connected to the genesis and fruition of the work itself.
The exhibition therefore, in addition to the absolute value of the work that will be exhibited, acquires an important connotation of valorisation of the territory and its cultural connections because the large altarpiece painted by Raphael will return to the city and to the location where it was kept until end of the seventeenth century.
