On the two weekends of 29-30-31 July and 5-6-7 August, in Sant’Angelo in Campo, a hamlet of the municipality of Lucca, the feast of the Tordello di Sant’Angelo will be held.
They will be evenings in the open air to be spent in the company of traditional hand-made tordelli, accompanied by a tasty mixed grill, homemade cakes and live music every evening.
This summer, in Sant’Angelo, there will be the best tordelli ever. Seeing is believing. And the reason is not to be found only in the excellent quality of the roasts and herbs chosen to fill up on strictly hand-rolled pasta. No, the secret ingredient is another: the disruptive enthusiasm of the volunteers who from May to June gathered regularly in the premises made available to the Sant’Angelo Activity Group by the parish to prepare, in the afternoon by afternoon, as many as 70 thousand tordellos .
An important quantity ready to be dished up – it should be said – in the dishes of those who want to share the last three evenings of July in the area of the skating rink, which the association itself has contributed over time, at its own expense, to modernize, secure and maintain.
The tordello festival will begin on Friday (29 July), will continue on Saturday (30 July) and will end its first weekend on Sunday (31 July), and then return the following weekend.Held at the skating rink behind the town church not far from Lucca.
Six evenings to taste the specialties of Bianca, Franca, Leda, Oriana, Enrica and Sandra who, together with the other volunteers, have been able to systematize the knowledge and traditions gathered over years and years of experience in the kitchen, even bickering a little as in the best families, to get to make the perfect tordello.
Six evenings to go back to dancing in freedom, after two years of restrictions due to the pandemic, with the music of the DJs that the association contacted to animate the party. In this first weekend there will be Dj Steve Martin on Friday, Dj Gutyerrez on Saturday and Nico Del Prato on Sunday.
The grandparents and grandmothers who still collaborate today are the people who started this experience and who today continue to commit themselves, side by side with children and grandchildren. An association with a strong social mission that believes in the strength of aggregation, of lending a hand with concreteness and timeliness, also in collaboration with other realities such as diocesan Caritas or blood donors – who will have their own information gazebo also inside of the festival space.
