Viareggio Bastia Viareggio, an eco-sustainable regatta

The Viareggio Bastia Viareggio – Angelo Moratti Trophy 2023 to return to the Versilia Nautical Club in Viareggio (Lucca).

The eco-sustainable and plastic-free regatta will be organized from 5 to 8 July, under the aegis of the Italian Sailing Federation, by the Versilia Nautical Club with the precious collaboration of Navigo, the Municipality of Viareggio, iCare and Uvai, the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Port Authority of Viareggio.

In the 2023 edition, the maxi yachts and Class A sailing boats of the new Altura Fiv regulation (depending on the rating, from 40′ to 60′) will compete, in full respect of the ecosystem of the stretch of sea involved, on the traditional route between Versilia and Corsica – route of the epic VBV, the international offshore powerboat race born in July 1962 a few years after the foundation of the Viareggio partnership -, to try to beat the record of the Maxi 100 Arca Sgr which, helmed by the skipper Trieste Furio Benussi with the Fast and Furio sailing team, had crossed the finish line first in Viareggio conquering the line honors after 22 hours 52 minutes and 53 seconds and just over 150 miles covered, and to compete for the trophies won last year by the GS 56C Axa Paolisssima armed by Luca and Paola Poli.
