Vinaria – Cycling and wine tasting

Vinaria takes its name from “La Via Vinaria”, a wine event that sees the opening of farms for wine tasting.

ILa Vinaria is designed not as a competitive race, but for those who want to blend passion, fun, nature and landscape with the aim of pedaling in company and good food.

The Vinaria is open to all. There are two routes, “the divine” of 43 kilometers made for cyclists who want to enjoy the landscapes and excellent refreshments along the route, and the “intrepid” of 78 kilometers, for the adventurous who are not afraid of climbs and want to see a breathtaking view from the Capannorese Apennine chain and visit places such as the “witches oak” where legend has it that Pinocchio was hanged there.

On both routes, in addition to the numerous excellent refreshments, the start and finish are from the historic Marlia market. One of the many refreshment points along the route is in the park of a sixteenth-century villa “Villa La Badiola”, ancient residence of the Arnolfini family, surrounded by its vineyards and olive groves, just below the “Specola” an astronomical observatory built by Paolina Bonaparte. La Vinaria is organized by G.S. Cicli Carube with the patronage of the municipalities of Capannori, Porcari, Lucca and the Opera delle Mura di Lucca, because the paths, as well as in the vineyards, pass through the monumental and historic “Walls of Lucca”.
