Walk and Lunch at Marlia, the Villa Reale, and surroundings

March 26 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Reservation required, event with limited seats

A few kilometers from Lucca there are numerous historic villas, precious gems that belonged, or still belong, to noble families.

Some of them are now part of a valuable heritage that forms the circuit of the Ville Lucchesi. And certainly among all the spectacular places, the Villa Reale di Marlia stands out for its splendour, elegance and majesty of its park, a 16-hectare masterpiece at the foot of the Pizzorne plateau.

To fully appreciate the beauty of this area, we suggest a trek that will be the absolute celebration of spring and the beauty that can arise from the encounter between nature and art.

Along the way we will make a few stops to talk about the most dominant crops and plants. At the end of the long but simple climb, we will reach Matraia where, in the shade of the church of San Michele Arcangelo, we will have a lunch break.

In the very early afternoon we will then return to Marlia, where we will visit the gardens of the Villa Reale. The splendor of the estate is attributable to the recent restorations which have brought the site back to life. And in all its beauty, during the flowering of the camellias, we will visit the large park.

The visit to the Royal Villa will last 2 hours and includes stops of exceptional beauty and a wide variety: from the sixteenth-century nymphaeum to the Pan cave, from the Baroque fishpond to the collection of camellias, from the greenery theater to the Art Deco-style bathrooms.
