MOMIX

Known throughout the world for its shows of exceptional inventiveness and beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancers-illusionists directed by Moses Pendleton . His fame is linked to the ability to evoke a world of surreal images by interacting with human bodies, costumes, tools, plays of light.

The company takes its name from a solo conceived by Pendleton – at the time a member of the Pilobolus Dance Theater – for the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980. Over the years the formation and size of the group have undergone several changes,   but it has remained intact the commitment to contribute to the development of the art of dance entertaining the public. 

After many years of the highly acclaimed initial show MOMIX CLASSICS , which brought them to the attention of the   international audience, in 1992 Momix presented PASSION , which quickly became another   worldwide success. It is a show created on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s film The Last Temptation of Christ , by Peter Gabriel. The same year the famous San Francisco Giants baseball team entrusted MOMIX with the creation of a choreography for an inauguration. He will give birth to the new show called BASEBALL (1994). In February 1996 the show SUPERMOMIX made its debut in Milan. In February 2001 the company presented the world premiere of the OPUS CACTUS show at the Joyce Theater in New York, acclaimed by world critics. Absolute record of public in the countries where it has been represented in recent years. Moses Pendleton’s next creation, presented on the occasion of MOMIX’s 25th anniversary (2005), is SUN FLOWER MOON , an evening of concentrated visual subversions and seductions, in which fascinating cosmic objects flicker and float in a metaphysical Lunar Sea. In February 2009, the latest creation, BOTHANICA , made its debut in Bologna, which met with such a dazzling success that it even surpassed all previous shows. 

The company has often made special and television projects. In Italy she   appeared in RAI productions broadcast worldwide. She also participated in the Homage to Picasso program in Paris and was chosen to represent the USA at the European Cultural Center in Delphi. He has taken part in numerous conventions. Among these, in July 1999, a series of shows in the Lingotto complex in Turin on the occasion of the centenary ceremonies of FIAT AUTO , with a group of 15 dancers and an entirely new program, recently also participated in the Opening Ceremony of the TIM CUP 2019 final at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. 

In the summer of 2010, MOMIX reMIX arrives , offering a selection of the most shining and significant moments of the company’s 30 years of existence. Moses Pendleton created two new world premiere choreographies for the occasion. Here, too, the global success of audiences and critics was unanimous: “BEAUTIFUL”! 

From February 2013 is ALCHEMY , which surprisingly unhinges and overturns the Momix imprint in a sophisticated, hieratic, profound, full of mystery and at times disturbing show showing yet another face of the kaleidoscopic Moses Pendleton. 

On the occasion of the company’s 35 years of existence in 2015,   Momix staged a collection of its most shining and memorable moments with W MOMIX FOREVER , which also includes 4 new choreographies created specifically to celebrate this fantastic milestone.

The latest addition to Momix is ​​ALICE , which debuted at the Olympic Theater in Rome in World Premiere in February 2019 with a subsequent tour of extraordinary success in the most important Italian theaters and whose echo has given way to more than ever numerous future appearances of little Alice in the great theaters around the world. 

In addition to the annual appearances at the Joyce Theater in New York, the company performs regularly all over the world, touring in: Canada, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, England, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Holland, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Australia and the whole East.
