The Christmas Factory
A completely new village for Lucca, with initiatives suitable for all ages, to experience the magic of the Christmas holidays and tradition together
The new Fabbrica del Natale opens on 8 December, in a space which for the first time is included in the circuit of city events linked to the Christmas period: the former Comics Museum and the adjacent auditorium, in Piazza San Romano. These places, for the duration of an entire month, until 8 January, will continuously host events dedicated to music, theatre, reading, workshops, games and entertainment for adults and children.
The initiative is included in the single program “Lucca Magico Natale”, which each year will characterize the Christmas cultural and entertainment offer, both for the citizens of Lucca and for visitors to the city.
The Christmas factory will be inaugurated on 8 December at 3.00 pm, in the presence of the mayor Mario Pardini, together with the councilors who coordinated LMN events and the new president of Lucca Crea Nicola Lucchesi.
In the following days, from 15.00 to 19.00, the former Comics Museum and the auditorium will host a series of activities aimed at children, with theater performances, puppets, music, games with soap bubbles, cooking and painting workshops , readings, dice games, all with a Christmas theme. There will also be special solidarity initiatives, with “Elves for a day”, where the little ones can bring their Christmas presents which will then be distributed to family homes and local charities, or with the Jamerry Christmas Concert, a Christmas concert in favor of Unicef, with choral interventions and choreography by young male and female dancers. On some days, parents will also be able to leave their children (from 5 years of age) at the Baby parking theatre: children can have fun with animated readings, theatrical games, Christmas-themed art workshops, while they can go shopping for Christmas in complete tranquillity. Also for the older ones, musical events are also scheduled, such as the Aperitif in Jazz in Lucca. Finally, in January, to the delight of all, the Befana will arrive: that of the popular committee of Piazza San Francesco on January 5, and on the 6th the one that will descend from Aquilea.
The Tenuta Mariani di Massarosa, the Pasticceria Le Bontà di Lucca and Cremeria Opera di Lucca will always be present at the Fabbrica del Natale with typical and delicious products, from snacks to aperitifs. It will also be possible to meet Santa Claus every afternoon in his magical room, curated by the Don Franco Baroni association.
Finally, two exhibitions will be open to visitors at the Ex Comics Museum: one dedicated to portable nativity scenes, curated by ‘Il Baluardo Lucchese vocal group’, in collaboration with the community of Santa Maria Corteorlandini, the Tuscan Choirs association and the Lucca Balestrieri company; a photographic exhibition will instead be dedicated to Christmas in Lucca, curated by Foto Alcide.
